Hokkaido is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk. It has breathtaking mountain scenery, extensive wetlands, natural lakes, marshes and beautiful grassy landscapes.

It is not really affected by typhoons or the rainy seasons and it has hot dry summers with cold snowy winters.
It has many hot springs dotted over the island with many historical spas in the southern area.
